These terms apply when you use Council Tax Challenger (https://counciltaxchallenger.co.uk), operated by Comtev Ltd. By using the site you agree to them.

What the service is

We provide a free council tax band comparison tool and a paid evidence pack (£9.99) containing comparable properties, an estimated 1991 valuation, a case-strength score, and a written case summary. The evidence pack supports a challenge that you submit yourself, free of charge, through the official gov.uk or Scottish Assessors service.

What the service is not

We are not the Valuation Office Agency, HMRC, or any government body, and we are not a regulated claims management company acting on your behalf. We do not submit challenges for you, we do not guarantee any outcome, and nothing on this site is financial or legal advice. Band data and valuations are estimates based on public data and can be wrong or out of date.

The risk you accept

A council tax band challenge can result in your band, and in rare cases your neighbours' bands, being increased as well as decreased. Our case-strength score helps you judge that risk, but the decision to submit a challenge is yours alone.

Payments and refunds

Payment for the evidence pack is taken by Stripe before the pack is generated. Because the pack is personalised digital content delivered immediately, the statutory 14-day cancellation right ends when delivery begins, as permitted by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If your pack fails to generate or is materially defective, contact us and we will regenerate it or refund you.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We may suspend accounts used to scrape the service, abuse rate limits, or resell outputs without permission.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
